With the Alberni Quartet
Cedars Hall’s quartet in residence continues its Sunday evening series, pairing two great works from the string quartet repertoire. Haydn’s famous quartet, op.74 no.3 is nicknamed The Rider due to its galloping finale.
Move on a century and the last movement of the much-loved “American” quartet by Dvorák is unmistakably infused with the rhythms of steam locomotives at speed. Plus ça change!
