Bringing Charles Dicken’s novel to life, The Albany Academy will take you on a wild adventure through Victorian England’s underworld of theft and violence as Oliver Twist searches for a home, a family but most importantly love.

When Oliver is picked up on the streets by The Artful Dodger, he is welcomed into a gang of pickpockets led by the conniving but charismatic Fagin. After being falsely accused of theft, Oliver is rescued by a kind and wealthy gentleman, to the dismay of Fagin’s violent sidekick Bill Sykes.

Caught in the middle is the warm-hearted Nancy who is trapped under Bill’s thumb, but desperate to help Oliver, with tragic results. Spirited timeless songs such as As Long As He Needs Me, Food Glorious Food and Where Is Love makes Oliver! a musical classic.

2017 has been a remarkable year for Elephant Sessions. The band who hail from the Highlands of Scotland and who met at the Newcastle University Folk degree have exploded onto the indie folk scene with unparalleled effect.

This superb production stars the world’s No.1 MJ impersonator ‘Navi’ who was actually invited to perform at two of Michael Jackson’s birthday parties in LA and New York. Michael not only applauded Navi but also gave him a standing ovation and invited the impersonator to spend a day at his home, ‘Neverland’. The pair remained close and due to Navi’s uncanny resemblance to the star, he was often hired by Michael to act as a decoy to distract mobs of fans and press.

Navi has since continued to work at the highest level, performing in a whopping 57 different countries and is now back in the UK for a national theatre tour along with his incredible live band and dancers. Navi brilliantly recreates all the magical classics from the early Jackson 5 songs to mega-hits such as Thriller and Smooth Criminal in a show the whole family will enjoy.

“Downs With Love” explores the subject of love and disability and challenges us to consider what we view to be “acceptable”. Can we accept seeing a couple - one of whom has Down’s and the other does not? Do we understand the complexities and issues surrounding love and disability? The play has been written around the performers and especially with Abi Brydon, the central actor. Cutting Edge Theatre have worked with Abi, taking her own feelings, challenges and experiences growing up with Down’s and creating a very real, moving performance around her.
