Linos Piano Trio
Claude Debussy: La Mer, (arranged for piano trio by Sally Beamish)
Paul Dukas: Sorcerer’s Apprentice (arranged by the Linos Piano Trio)
Franz Schubert: Trio no. 2 in E-flat major, D 929

“This was a slow-burning, gripping performance, the playing rich and passionate.”
The Strad

This is as truly international as a piano trio can get with German/Brazillian violinist Konrad Elias-Trostman, Russian/French cellist Vladimir Waltham and Thai/British pianist Prach Boondiskulchok.

First Prize and Audience Prize winner of the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition 2015, the Linos Piano Trio has achieved recognition as an extremely dynamic and creative young chamber ensemble.

The key work in this programme is the mighty E flat Trio by one of the great masters of this genre, Schubert. But, through a bold initiative of the Linos Trio with their ‘Stolen Music’ they are expanding the standard repertoire by arranging orchestral works for the piano trio medium.

Two of these are included in this programme: the famous symphonic poem Sorcerer’s Apprentice by Dukas notable for its appearance in the Walt Disney 1940 animated film Fantasia, and Sally Beamish’s brilliant arrangement of Debussy’s evocative seascape, La Mer, which complements the original score and also communicates entirely independently of it.
